In recent weeks, the Chittagong region of Bangladesh has witnessed a surge of violent attacks by Muslim extremist groups targeting Buddhist and Hindu communities. Numerous temples, homes, and villages have been burned and destroyed, while innocent civilians — including women and children — have suffered brutal assaults and other horrific acts of violence.
Despite these ongoing atrocities, the Bangladeshi police and military have reportedly failed to take meaningful action to protect the victims or stop the perpetrators. Their silence and inaction have deepened the sense of fear, insecurity, and hopelessness among the affected minority populations.
Local religious leaders, humanitarian groups, and international observers are calling for urgent intervention to restore peace, ensure justice, and safeguard the lives, rights, and heritage of Bangladesh’s Buddhist and Hindu communities.
